Today, more than 130 years later, this Bilbao-based firm is celebrated in the <strong>United States<\/strong>, <strong>Asia<\/strong>, <strong>South America<\/strong>, <strong>Canada<\/strong>, and across <strong>Europe<\/strong>. The fourth generation \u2014 led by sisters <strong>Mar\u00eda and M\u00f3nica Mendoza<\/strong> \u2014 travels regularly around the world to bring their exquisitely made home linens to the most discerning and exclusive clients, just as <strong>Los Encajeros<\/strong> has done with care since <strong>1880<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These <strong>itinerant showrooms<\/strong> are well received not only in <strong>Madrid<\/strong> and <strong>Barcelona<\/strong>, but also in cities like <strong>Paris, Berlin, Miami, New York, Dubai<\/strong>, and <strong>Moscow<\/strong>. In fact, it was at one of these events that <strong>It girl Tatiana Santo Domingo<\/strong> discovered the brand \u2014 and has been a loyal client ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key to their success? <strong>Excellence.<\/strong><br>This brand has always stood out for offering the very best: <strong>Swiss embroideries<\/strong>, <strong>Irish linens<\/strong>, <strong>Egyptian cottons treated in Switzerland<\/strong>\u2026 sourced from small artisanal workshops around the world, personally visited by the Mendoza sisters.<br>Another defining value is their <strong>made-to-measure<\/strong> approach to tablecloths, bed linens, quilts, and towels \u2014 all of which are among their bestsellers.<br>\u201cOur seamstresses take measurements, hand-stitch each piece, and fit the client as many times as needed,\u201d explains Mar\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for trends, the Mendoza sisters are clear:<br>\u201cClients today are much more practical than previous generations, so we aim to work with easy-care fabrics, like those that require little ironing. We&#8217;ve also noticed that younger generations enjoy mixing trendier pieces with timeless classics. That\u2019s why we always offer cruise collections that blend seamlessly with our spring\u2013summer and fall\u2013winter lines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company, which has a boutique on <strong>Gran V\u00eda in Bilbao<\/strong>, also designs <strong>custom pieces for babies and children<\/strong>, inspired by <strong>vintage British patterns<\/strong> \u2014 which, by the way, are hugely popular in <strong>New York<\/strong> \u2014 as well as <strong>uniforms for domestic staff<\/strong>.<br>In fact, their <strong>Liberty fabric<\/strong> designs with matching aprons, or those in <strong>Swiss piqu\u00e9 and organdy<\/strong>, have been widely imitated by competitors. As Mar\u00eda points out, \u201cIt\u2019s natural, though still frustrating, because each new collection requires countless hours of work and resources.
